The Brewing and Distilling International magazine and bdinews.com, its associated website has been acquired by the Institute of Brewing and Distilling. The IBD is a members' organisation with some 4,000 technical professionals in brewing, distilling, research establishments, universities and associated supply industries throughout the world. It publishes the Brewer & Distiller International and the Journal of the Institute of Brewing for its members and subscribers.

WINNER of the 2006 Bibby Distribution Fork Truck Driver of the Year contest was Steve Seymour from Bibby’s Scunthorpe site. He is shown (centre) of the photo with Sir Michael Bibby (left), managing director of Bibby Line Group who presented the awards, and Phil Potter (right), head of servicing operations at Atlet. The eight-hour contest at the MOD driver training base at Leconfield tested skills in both the theory and practice of lift truck operation, using the Atlet UNS Tergo reach trucks and counterbalance trucks. A MAJOR order to supply InBev’s two UK plants at Magor and Samlesbury has recently been completed by Tyco Valves and Controls’ Hygienic Products Division, which comprises the Hovap and Keystone brands. The contract was won against stiff competition, says Tyco, thanks to the modular nature of its offer, as well as competitive pricing. The orders were placed in Jan’2006 and completed by May.
